The US Federal Agency NOAA has a website to track the gulf oil spill. At the GeoPlatform.Gov website, under GulfReponse, an interactive Google Map shows the status of many aspects of the recent spill.

NOAA has responsibility in the US Government to predict El Nino (Southern Oscillation). Called ENSO, El Nino takes place when the Pacific Ocean at the Equator is warm. La Nina takes place wihen that water is cool.
